Who are we?

The general purpose of Local Action Groups (YEG) established based on the LEADER approach is to implement the bottom-up local development strategies developed. Local Action Groups must become associations in order to gain official status. In this context, we established our "Kalebey Local Action Group Association" in Kale on 26.06.2019, in order to implement the European Union Local Development Strategies (Leader Approach) in our region, under the leadership of Kale and Beyağaç Mayors, together with civil and private sector representatives.

We prepared our "Local Development Strategy" by focusing on the goal of social and cultural development as well as economic development of the people of Kale and Beyağaç Districts. While preparing this strategy, we chose the following themes, taking into account regional characteristics, and built our projects and activities on these themes.
Theme 1: To carry out other activities for economic diversity by producing high value-added products suitable for the local soil and climate structure, as well as traditional production in the Agriculture-Livestock sectors,
Theme 2; Development and diversification of regional, cultural and natural rural tourism,
Theme 3; To develop the cultural and social life of the society and to support collective local organizations, associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Theme 4; Local Action Groups Network, establishing good practice examples (disseminating the IPARD Program and learning new approaches to rural development.)

As Kalebey Local Action Group Association, we believe that LEADER practices will lay the foundations of rural development in our region and pave the way for sustainable and continuous economic and social development, as a whole with our local and public institutions, farmers, animal producers, non-governmental organizations, youth, women and private sector groups. As  we desire and aim to successfully implement our Local Development Strategy and Action Plan.
