Beyağaç Topuklu Plateau is famous for its majestic trees around it, its air, and its cold and high-quality drinking water resources. It is suitable for daily picnics and tent camping. It is 22 km away from the south of the district center, 5 hectares in size and approximately 1700 meters above sea level. In the immediate vicinity, there are "Monumental Black Pine Forests", which are over 1200-1300 years old. It is very enjoyable to watch the Gulf of Gökova and the sunset in summer from the hills in the west of the plateau.
In Topuklu Plateau, which has the capacity to host large organizations, Pamukkale University Faculty of Science and Letters Biology Department faculty members Prof. Dr. Gürkan Semiz, Dr. With the joint work of Faculty Member Gürçay Kıvanç Akyıldız and Tahsin Demirciler, "TÜBİTAK-4004 Topuklu Plateau Nature and Science Camp" was organized four times between 2011 and 2016, with the participation of a total of 160 high school students.
In July 2021, "Sky Observation Activities with Mount Sandras Ethem Hodja" were held for the first time. However, the event had to be canceled due to forest fires in the Köyceğiz region at that time.
The second of our event was held between 30 June and 03 July 2022, with the participation of 450 astronomy enthusiasts.
Between 13 and 16 July 2023, the event was moved to an international dimension and instructors and participants from different countries were invited. A total of 1,700 astronomy lovers from our country and abroad attended this event. 30 telescopes were installed in the event area.
Topuklu Plateau, surrounded by fences, with its country café, indoor education center, camellias, children's playgrounds, fountains flowing with natural spring water, individual toilets distributed in the additional area to the central shower and toilets, two generators and two tents with a capacity of 100 people, is a place where sky observations and nature can be enjoyed. It is a camp center where science and education camps are held. Its management is provided by Beyağaç Municipality, and food and beverage services are provided by Beyağaç Women's Enterprise Production and Management Cooperative.
The achievements to be gained after the "Denizli Astro Tourism Symposium" to be held on July 9, 2024, and the new experiences to be gained in the 2024 events to be organized between July 11-14, will be first invited to astronomy institutions and organizations in Europe in 2025, and will be named as the "Astro Tourism Destination" of our region.
